A night of music and festivities will feature some of Bayonne's top talent this August. The Bayonne Bridgemen Drum and Bugle Corps is hosting Bayonne Appreciation Day on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Veterans Stadium. The free concert, which is being presented in cooperation with Bayonne Community Bank, will also serve as a fundraiser for the local Elks Club. The evening will kick off at 5 p.m. with face painting, sand art, balloon animals and carnival games for children. Local vendors will be also on hand serving up food and drinks, entertainment will be provided by Pete "Ziggy" Zervoulis and Madeline Coles and there will be 50/50 drawings. In addition, Bayonne High School students will show their art work in an exhibition under the direction of Brian Belton. Admission is free, but all proceeds to will go toward the Elks Club's charities. At 7 p.m., the participating veterans will take the field as the Tri Valley Brass Ensemble will play the National Anthem. The Fusion Twirlers will then perform, followed by the Bayonne Police Emerald Society bag pipe band. Bridgemen Select Brass Ensemble will then take the field, followed by the Bridgemen Brass Choir and the HCA Cheerleaders. The Bridgemen will cap off the night with a performance of their 2014 field show.
